Christmas is one of the most stressful times to be hit with a dental emergency, mainly because it can be incredibly hard to access timely emergency care to get you out of pain and back in good health again.
Meliora Dental in Leeds will be available to care for you if you find yourself looking up “private emergency dentist” over the festive period.
Below is some further information that we hope you will find useful if you are unlucky enough to experience a dental emergency this Christmas.
Know the signs of a dental emergency so you can seek timely treatment that will get you pain-free again as soon as possible:
One of the most common dental emergencies we see at Christmas time is broken teeth due to biting on foreign objects (ice in particular)!
Many dental emergencies that occur over the festive period can also involve alcohol, so we encourage you to be prudent with your teeth if you are consuming a little more alcohol than usual.
Please remember that any symptoms which prevent you from breathing normally warrant a 999 call. Go straight to your local A&E if your symptoms suddenly inhibit your breathing.
If you find you are experiencing signs of a dental emergency, you should contact a private emergency dentist right away.
Here at Meliora Dental, we will be available for emergency appointments throughout the festive period.
Step 1) Contact our practice on 01132 490795 to book an emergency appointment with an emergency dentist at Meliora Dental. We recommend calling as early as possible after the emergency incident has occurred.
Step 2) We will ask you about your symptoms and what your current pain level is. We will arrange to see you within 24 hours, but generally, the dentist will be ready to see you much sooner. We may give you some care advice to follow while you wait for your emergency appointment time.
Step 3) Your dentist will examine you and diagnose the problem. Antibiotics and painkillers can be provided, if clinically necessary.
Step 4) We may need to invite you back for a follow-up appointment. Your dentist will let you know if this is necessary at the end of your emergency dentist appointment.
Please note that we do not offer NHS emergency dentist appointments. If a dental emergency occurs out-of-hours (such as in the middle of the night), we recommend contacting 111.
As a private dental practice, we are at an advantage compared to what NHS dental establishments can offer. Some examples include:
Contact Meliora Dental for a private emergency dentist service in Leeds. If you are contacting us on a Bank Holiday for an emergency dentist appointment, please call 07983133622.
We can’t stress this enough; the sooner you contact us after a dental emergency occurs, the more likely it is we can save your tooth and alleviate your pain swiftly.
If you aren’t 100% sure that you are suffering from a dental emergency, we encourage you to contact us to make sure serious symptoms can be ruled out.
We can accept both practice members and non-members for emergency dentist appointments over the festive period.
We wish you a happy and healthy holiday.
